happy thanksgiving!

wow, thanksgiving is tomorrow!
that is hard to believe for some reason.
i am excited that fred will be in town
this year. it's our first thanksgiving
together in 3 years! i imagine we will
both be hard at work for most of the day...
i have 2 art shows next weekend and lots
of paintings to finish.

i was at krankies today having some delicious
coffee and met this sweet kitty (see below).
her name is lilly and she has been adopted by
my friends blake and jeff. i am so happy she
found such a wonderful home. she is super
sweet!

i am almost finished with the flyer for next weeks
art show and my holiday card. i will post these soon.

saturdays are the best!

hi!
i love saturdays. they are my only day off and
they are the best! pretty soon i will be working
saturdays too, so i am enjoying these last few
to the fullest by not making any plans and painting
as much as possible. (and hanging out in the woods!)

im still working on the giraffe/zebra/candycane
painting and started another that is very similar.
im very excited about the holidays and the cooler
weather.

i talked about this spot in the woods that i like
a lot in a previous post, and today i showed fred
where it is. i had my camera on me to photograph
some pretty lichens and he took some of me
sitting on my "root chair".

there is another owl but i dropped
my camera when photographing it
and it didnt save.

tonight's project is a painting of
a cute giraffe/zebra/candycane hybrid
hanging out with his pal who happens
to be some type of miniature bovine
creature. they are in candyland. i
really loved that game when i was a kid.

my head FINALLY stopped hurting! i had
another 12 hour bout of pain yesterday that
was maddening. stay away bad headaches!

happy tuesday everyone!
i am very thankful to be pain free at the moment.
i had a blinding, piercing, nauseating headache
for 24 hours.... until about noon today when
it started to rain. the extreme changes in weather
and maybe the full moon are reaking havoc inside
my skull and neck. aye yayay!!

today's photos are of me in my studio just now....
some rollerskating giraffes, and a bunch of great
spaceships my friend Terry McLean drew for the
art*o*mat machines. i was amazed to see how
many different designs he came up with. he did just
as many robots too, i will try to photograph them
tomorrow.

i love autumn!

it has been a very beautiful weekend. i had
the whole day off yesterday and spent the early
afternoon in the woods with my dog sunny. i have a
favorite spot that is extra special because i have
to cross two fallen trees (one is high up over the creek)
to reach it. there is a steep hill by the creek with
tree roots growing out of the side of the hill to make
a little "chair." i sat there for a while watching my wild
dog run around while the leaves fell all around. then
i spotted a nice sunny patch across the creek and made
my way over and took a nice little nap in a nest of
leaves. sunny thought that was great and kept jumping
over me--dripping creek water all over me!

later in the day fred and i walked through the rose garden
at Reynolda Gardens *see photo. i like this photo because
it looks like the rose was talking to me (maybe it was !)
and because it shows off my beautiful new earrings my
friend mitsuyo made. http://kanokano.net

im posting some new paintings from this week. i was losing
sun while trying to photograph them so the colors are a bit
weird. the tiny ones are really small (about an inch or 2).

art-o-mats!

here are some "shrinitas" that i made this
week for the art-o-mat machines. the ones
with the yellow lines were done with my new
ruling pen. i prefer them to the ones drawn
with the silver metallic sharpies, but the
ruling pen requires much time and patience
which some days are running short with me.
i should have more to post tomorrow.

self portrait tuesday - november 8!

i have been working hard this week making
lots of new art-o-mats that i hope to post tomorrow.
they are pretty wacky! i have been using a ruling
pen for the first time for these and am really starting
to enjoy the process.

this photo of me was taken the other day by fred in
the woods behind our house. we were both standing
on a fallen tree for the whole photo shoot! this
tree used to be covered in ivy vines but recently
our dog sunny ripped them off and dragged them
into the creek.

the photo shoot was me wearing different clothes
(mostly vintage stuff) for my pal leya's site http://curiousbird.com .
i am excited to be a "model"! her site is the best--- she makes
the neatest things. my current favorite are her owl pillows.

i have 2 shows that both open the first week in december.
i am about to turn into a painting whirlwind - - - starting NOW!!!

halloween photos!

happy november 1st!! self portrait tuesday

hi all. hope you had a great halloween. i did.
i went to a great party saturday night and
worked "zombie brunch" at mary's sunday, and
trick or treated with my friend tracy and
her 2 sons last night.

the only bad news is that i was up most of the night
and morning with a yucky stomach flu. drat! its
6pm and im just beginning to feel hungry again, so
i will go take care of that now.

this is a picture of me and cheese after zombie
brunch--which explains the blood on my neck.
